A radiant Glenn Close received the Sherry Lansing Leadership award at the The Hollywood Reporter’s Annual Women in Entertainment Breakfast on last December 5, 2008. The award was commissioned by Mikimoto, the Originator of Cultured Pearls since 1893, and is named “The Gateway.”
The “Gateways” brushed natural bronze twin planes both diffuse and reflect light from the luminous 14 mm Mikimoto Golden South Sea cultured pearl pendant which sways between the angled surfaces. The alignment of the pendant’s drop – both on and off the sculpture’s base, suggests the recipient’s talent to push the boundaries as a performer and humanitarian. While linear and architectural, the artist incorporated familiar symbols which emerge when the piece is viewed from various angles – the letter “M” (for Mikimoto) and the number “1” (for the pinnacle – Glenn Close). The sculpture allows the breathtaking pendant, valued at $9,900 to be removed and worn, while the integrity of the art remains. Designer Adrienne Lee is a native Californian, whose work focuses on metal and clay. Her sculptures can be found in galleries and private collections throughout the United States, Europe, Asia and South Africa.
“Mikimoto’s commission of “The Gateway” was inspired both by Ms. Close’s profound strength as an artist and personal style. The choice of a Golden South Sea pearl and natural warm bronze seemed to reflect her essence perfectly,” explains Dawn Moore, General Manager of Mikimoto Beverly Hills. “It was an exciting challenge to design a piece for a woman known for her powerful presence both on and off the screen.”
“The Mikimoto designed sculpture is as unique as the recipient of the Sherry Lansing Leadership Award,” said The Hollywood Reporter publisher Eric Mika. “The Hollywood Reporter is very proud that such fine craftsmanship and concern has gone into creating such recognition. It is truly reflective of the accomplishments of those we choose to honor at Women in Entertainment.”
The sculpture was presented last December 5 at the Beverly Hills Hotel. The Sherry Lansing Leadership Award honors a woman who has been a pioneer in the entertainment industry. Past recipients include Barbara Walters, Meryl Streep and Jodie Foster.

Paparazzi-inspired music video has been premiered to support Miley Cyrus’ new single ‘Fly on the Wall’ from the album Breakout. It was shot last November 9 in downtown Los Angeles directed by Philip Andelman. According to sources, Miley Cyrus always had Paparazzi in mind when she wrote the song.
Scene starts with Miley Cyrus and a friend walking hand in hand from a movie theater. Full moon breaks and boy friend coughs and turns into a zombie … oh! NOT a zombie but a paparazzi.

Telecast live on CBS, the 2008 Grammy nominations where announced last night at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles. The concert nomination event featured songs from the Grammy’s history with perfomances by Celine Dion who sang “At Seventeen”, Christina Aguilera did her rendition of ” I loves you Porgy” and Foo Fighters did their version of “You’re so Vain”. The other performer was Taylor Swift who also co-hosted the show with LL Cool J.
With eight nominations, rapper Lil Wayne leads the pack. Then Coldplay earned seven while Kanye, Jay-z and Neyo each got six nominations. The Grammy Awards Show will be held on Feb. 08, 2009 at the Staples Center, Los Angeles, CA.
